FAQ — Bella Vista and Casa Pacis

Garbage Can Location and Pick-up, Trash, Recycling

There is one garbage can.
— At Bella Vista, it is dug in the ground on the left side at the top of the driveway.* The lid can be fastened with a metal cable and clip. You will find that it is all but impossible to keep the raccoons out when the clip is not engaged.
— At Casa Pacis it is in the left shed. Make sure to keep the door to the shed locked, to keep raccoons out.**

Pick-up is on Wednesdays early AM - no need for you to do anything to facilitate this.

For recycling you have the following options:
— At Bella Vista: All recyclables must be placed inside the garbage can at the top of the driveway. If they don’t fit, there is no choice but to take them home with you. (Separation of recyclables from garbage is done at the County Refuse Transfer Station).
— At Casa Pacis: Place your recyclables in the blue bin in the left shed. Do not over-fill — the lid of the can must be closed.

Under no circumstance leave your garbage or recyclables inside the house or garage or anywhere outside when you depart. If no room in the bins, take them home with you.***

*   If you happen to see a conventional cylindrical plastic garbage can anywhere on the premises, do NOT use it for your garbage or recyclables — it is there for a different purpose. 

** Note:  raccoons are VERY clever and like to get into the garbage cans by all means; they enlist "family" help and WILL SUCCEED if you do not engage the locking cable (BV).  (They will also try to get inside the house by pushing screen doors open or breaking through them - HIDE your foods in the kitchen from their sight before you go to bed !!! - or better yet, keep the glass sliding door closed at night !!!!).

*** Note for repeat renters: The in-ground can on the berm by the driveway of Casa Pacis has been DE-ACTIVATED. PLEASE DO NOT USE IT. Use only the plastic cans in the shed, provided by “Recology.” (The in-ground can of Bella Vista is still in use, as it always has been).

*** Please cooperate. Refuse of any kind will attract rodents, of which there are far too many for comfort in Sea Ranch.
