Upon your arrival at your ACViews rental home (Casa Pacis or Bella Vista), please find and read a one-page information sheet entitled "EMERGENCY: Whom do you call?" It may have some more updated or more specific information than this FAQ page.
Then familiarize yourself with the location of the fire extinguishers.

Please help us maintain utmost fire safety. The house is located in an area that is, during the summer and fall seasons, considered "high fire danger."
Specifically:
--- use the gas grill or Weber only on a gravel or concrete surface, never on a wooden deck;
--- assure that the grease catcher is in place under the gas grill;
--- no bonfires on the beach!
--- no smoking anywhere on Sea Ranch commons (or at Casa Pacis or Bella Vista)
--- during Red Flag Warning periods use of the fireplace is prohibited.
--- NO PAPER, NO PINE NEEDLES, NO CHRISTMAS TREES OR GIFT WRAPPING PAPER in the fireplace
--- start a fire in the fireplace only with dry wood kindling or Duraflame Firestarters (or equiv.), NOT with NEWSPAPER or alike
--- do not dispose hot ashes anywhere; leave this to our housekeepers to take care of

At Casa Pacis:
NO FIREWOOD at any time — use only commercial DURAFLAME logs or equivalent
Keep the metal screen of the fireplace closed at all times when a fire is burning
keep the glass doors at the fireplace at least partially closed at all times, so no embers will escape into the room
keep a fire in the fireplace under CONSTANT SUPERVISION
keep children near the fireplace under supervision

Please assure that children are under constant supervision when in the hot tub.

Please mind the hot cooking surface of the kitchen range — very dangerous for children

Keep the cooktop clear of burnables, such as dishtowels.

Do not leave the house while something is cooking on the range or in the oven.

Due to the related extreme fire danger, we do not permit the use of any candles (tea lights in metal containers are OK) -- no exceptions, please!
