Internet - Wifi
Free of charge to renters. Bella Vista has a high-speed wireless Internet (nominal speeds 100/100 MBps up/down). Usage is unlimited and unrestricted. This service is EXCELLENT, in that the bandwidth remains high even in peak use hours. Guests can combine vacationing at Bella Vista with basic work from their “home office,” enjoying Internet performance significantly superior to their actual place of work …
Modem and related equipment is in the garage, on a shelf above the dryer. The router is located readily accessible in the mezzanine. This permits the an EMF-sensitive guest to turn the router off and connect the laptop directly to it with an Ethernet cable. System name and password are given to the guest in the arrival documentation. If no connection, suggest to unplug the modem (in the garage) and router (on the mezzanine), wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in. Next suggestion is to re-boot your computer. If the problem persists, contact us.
The house telephone is Internet-based. This can come in handy when you suspect Internet problems: if you can hear the dial tone, the problem is likely not with the Internet system; if there is no dial tone, the Internet is likely the culprit. The one and only house telephone is located in the mezzanine.
The Internet and telephone systems of Bella Vista are on automatic battery back-up, which will bridge over long electric power interruptions up to several days, such that emergency calling should essentially always be possible. Beyond that, Guest will likely also have cell phone service for emergency calling still available during power outages. It is our understanding that both the Sea Ranch Internet system and the cell towers, separately and independently, are on automatic power back-up and will function even during extreme outage situations.
If for some reason the (normally very reliable) Internet system is down at Bella Vista, and you have an urgent situation that cannot wait, there is an alternative: The Sea Ranch Association provides free Wi-Fi service to Sea Ranch members and their guests and renters at both the Del Mar Center Hall and House, and the Ohlson Ranch House. Please consult the posted information at the facilities to check/verify the current password.
