FAQ — Casa Pacis
It takes us approximatewly 80 “Tesla-miles” from the supercharger in Petaluma, E. Washington Str. & 101, to Casa Pacis (in dry weather).
To charge your EV at Casa Pacis, bring your own charging cable SPECIFICALLY APPROVED FOR YOUR VEHICLE:
— if has a 3-prong plug for a regular 120V outlet, use the receptacle by the front door and SET YOUR CHARGING CURRENT TO 10 Ampere MAXIMUM (1.0 kW). This will permit charging at a rate of about 4 driving miles per hour of charging, or 20 hours for 80 mies/. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CHARGE AT HIGHER AMPERAGE.
— You may also charge at higher current and 240 V if bring a cable with a NEMA 10-30 plug approved for your vehicle (left in photo) and plug it into the special outlet on the side of the house. (This is the kind of outlet used for electric dryers. SET YOUR CHARGING CURRENT TO 18 Amperes MAXIMUM (4.3 kW). This will permit charging at a rate of about 16 driving miles per hour (5 hours charging for 80 miles). DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CHARGE AT HIGHER AMPERAGE, even if your vehicles permits a higher current draw.
==============================
We require that you adhere to these maximum current restrtictions to avoid circuit over-loading. The cable you need to bring is the original home-charging cable that came with your vehicle, or was purchased as a factory-approved accessory item for your EV. Tesla owners can buy the NEMA 10-30 adapter from Tesla for about $40. Simply pull off the end that normally features a regular 120-V plug (right in photo) (yes, it does come off !!!) and attach the NEMA 10-30 adapter to the cable. DO NOT USE A REGULAR 12-GA OR 14-GA EXTENSION CORD “CUSTOM FITTED” WITH A NEMA 10-30 PLUG, as those cables are not designed for high current and can overheat the cable and create a fire hazard.
===================================
We will assume that you will not charge more than about 50 kWh and request reimbursement for this energy cost simply as added tip to our housekeepers upon departure. Figure $0.50/kWh or 15 cents per mile charged. Let us know via email if your electricity charges were higher, so we can then request reimbursement via Zelle.
